Reading the rules for Ranged Attack it stats when a model has an RoF more than 1 you choose a Primary and Secondary target and that no more than 1 shot (1d20) can be assigned to each secondary target.

It makes it sound like you must target models other than the Primary with your extra Rate of Fire. What if you want to only target the primary target. I get that your committing a shot to a particular target but how you assign those shots should be up to you the player (hence the whole point of a Rate of Fire more than 1) unless that point by design simply is to be able to take shots at multiple models, not multiple shots at one model.

That is how it read to me. Is that the rule?

Do you like it that way if it is? Would you want an option for a player to choose how they commit shots?

If the rule does work that way, is it that way based on past warzone editions and playtest where it proved too much to fire at one model multiple times? What is the thinking behind the rule?

On page 54 it reads "allocate any number of rof to secondary target(s)". On page 56 it reads "at least the first d20 must be allocated to the primary target. A maximum of 1d20 must be allocated per secondary target. "
So as it is written, one shot is mandatory on the primary but you can assign all shots to it (1+ shots). The secondary can be assigned 0-1 each. :)
