Prodos should be set up typical bases (25mm, 40mm and 60mm round) for the infantry. Argumentation: so we can take scenery bases by very many provider.

When is scenery affected by base size?

I like the 30mm bases as it gives you a chance to really show off the minis.

In the final game, it won't make a huge deal of difference if you are playing among friends. The only time I can see it making some difference is with the 'facing area' rules.

*by that, I mean it won't matter if you are using 25mm or 30mm among friends.

I'm sure Prodos Games have their reasons. They don't do anything without thinking of you guys first. ;)

There are already rules for using 25/28mm bases so it's no big deal. Plenty of games and manufacturers are making 30mm bases now so you should still have plenty of selection. One upside for me is that my LGS carries Warmachine lipped bases but doesn't carry packages of GW-style round bases. So it is actually more convenient for me if I need to pick up extra bases (of course such will not be true of everyone, just a point of serendipity in my favour). :D

One of my local stores carries all the bases under the sun! I got some GW style 'slottas' that are 30mm rounds! Very odd!

The base size assigned the distance between two mini, the base size regulates "Can this mini traverse this doorway?" and so on.
Yes, the 30mm bases are impressive. But so many battleflieds - trenchs, doors, wall walks, fuxholes - are so tight. And if you want to buy a scenery bases, you must find a suited theme base in the prescribed size.

Being in Australia I get most of my bases from Back 2 Base IX now (http://www.back2base-ix.com/index.php?_ ... at&catId=2) but also have some nice MicroArts bases. Secret Weapon create a nice variety also but some ranges are limited in base types (round/lipped).

I like the 30mm base change, from earlier versions. Since we are talking about bases, I am still confused by the listed 35mm bases listed for the Praetorian Stalkers and Machinators, are we really looking at 40mm round lipped bases or is Prodos creating a new size of base?

Wayland's Forge in Birmingham. They do have an online presense, but not much of one. I believe they get their bases from Gale Force 9?

I'm all for round lipped, 30mm bases, they look good and give you more room for interesting terrain, not to mention "over the edge" terrain effects.
