I have noticed that in the ruleset 1.2 beta there is no infiltrate action like in the first edition and the hide action works very different. Does anyone have experience from the 1st ed. with those actions? Did they work or not? There must be a reason why they are not included.
The way those actions worked in the 1st ed. was the following:

Hide – you could spend one action to hide so that your opponent would have to use spot action and roll to actually see you. While hiding you could not move or shoot, nor be targeted by the enemy. However, you were able to fire some special weapons like sniper rifles or other weapons with silencers.

Infiltrate – you could move while hiding, half of the movement applying penalties for terrain to minimum of 1 inch.

Spotting was done through a action under the leadership test with some penalties for infiltrating under cover terrain and distance (over 12”)

Now, I think that these actions give a lot of tactical possibilities. I remember that some special forces with infiltration special rule could move without any penalty (mortificators for example). Maybe the old rules need some tweaking, but I really would love to see them in the game.

Any thoughts on that?

Generally speaking the whole hide/spot/half movement thing worked quite well. Could use a bit of an update rulewise but keep the concept of hiding alive.

On a similar note I like things like the Stealth, Advanced Move and Advanced Deployment in Warmachine too, which things like Shock Troops would make sense to have (maybe AD + Stealth). Naturally these would increase the costs of some units.

Tier lists like Warmachine/Hordes would be fun to toy with as well as long as like those they're not game-breaking. Not fussed but would be a nice-to-have anyway.

Those were some of the better parts of the game. It added character to the game, and made light armored, melee centric units, ie, Etoiles, more viable in a game where getting shot meant getting dead.
