Dying Stars reads
Quote:
Models hit by a Dying Star must complete a Con Test. If the test is failed model [sic] recieves a Wound with no Heal allowed

1.4 FAQ on Inpen Armor
Quote:
Unless otherwise specified, if an attack states that no Armour test can be taken, then the model cannot make any Armour test against this attack. If no armour test may be taken, and the model has an impenetrable armour value, the model may roll on its impenetrable armour value.

So, can Inpen Armor be used to protect against Dying Stars?

I don't think it does allow Impenetrable armour, for the same reason gas weapons and psychic shooting attacks don't allow impenetrable armour

You roll Armor or Impenetrable Armor against wound effects. The Dying Stars doesn't cause a wound effect, but a wound.

Main Rules pdf p. 7 "A – Armour Value. The number required to roll on a D20 for an Armour test to ignore a Wound Effect. Occasionally an Armour Value may include a second number in brackets e.g. A:18(12), this is the Impenetrable Armour Value."

Thus failed con tests deal wounds.

Note that you can't even use Heal (Main Rules pdf p.52): "Heal (X) – This Special Skill allows a Model to ignore a Wound Effect if an Armour test is failed, or not allowed to be made. (X) is the D20 roll needed to pass a Heal roll."

This explains why it is such an expensive gear card, while having at the same time such a small range and being depended on the Etoiles Mortant's low RS.

To clarify. Every hit causes a wound effect or SP damage. The difference is that You save against Con not A when hit by stars. So no IA. Like being hit by psychic (S). You save against WP.

A and armour test are not the same. WP attacks still allows Armour test but not with A value. Like Has attacks. Con armour save.
