If you can work in Space Ninjas and Space Samurai you can work in good Space Soviets.

The older fluff even provides for it to be set up. House Romanov (of Bauhaus) suffers a in house civil war, they lose. The Civil War is secretly supported by rival houses as well as outside parties from other megacorporations at first (and possibly by forces in the Dark Legion?). The new faction formed from this civil war accepts disgruntled and out of work people from all across the megacorporations and settles in the Kuiper Belt created a series of "small states" held together by a central committee. Flash forward 50 years.

No one says it has to have millions of conscripts. Did the Red Block have "Send in the Conscripts"? The SSU doesnt have Conscripts in Dust.

And to be fair Bauhaus has mandatory military service, so they already send in the conscripts. The big difference is that their conscripts don't suck (usually)!

I just get so tired of the Soviet insert faction in games. If you're going to do Russians at all then at least try something different and maybe make them based more on Tsarist Russia rather than just more Soviets.

Similarly, Bauhaus is linked to early Imperial German, rather than national-socialist.

Bauhaus is actually the name of a Modernist design movement, hated and destroyed by the national-socialists before WW2. It represented future thinking and strength in art & design.

I must be missing something, because the only Sci-Fi minis game I know that had "sviets" in it was AT43.

They had them in Vor as well.

it's not just wargames though, in lots of other sci-fi things, off the top of my head I can think of Judge Dredd and the Command and Conquer game series...
