Indeed they do, so that is at least one solid counter (and one that will basically be in every single Bauhaus deck I ever make).

That said, what is Capitol's card situation? Do they have any economy denial cards (or even straight up counters ala "Forget It" in the alpha/beta test)? If they have a cheap method of denial, I could see it getting a bit crazy. If they lack denial options, then they will likely need some extra spending power to make up for it.

At first blush, it seems like it gives you more resources than you likely need in basic games (Capitol is kind of low on active abilities to spend it on, so it mostly just means you will be a bit more manoeuvrable due to extra AP). The other doctrines seem to add powerful abilities or open up support choices as troops (which allow you to either make purist lists or to get resource cards from things you would be taking as specialists). So in a basic game, it feels like a bit of a waste (unless you're really dynamite at heal checks).

But if Cap is sitting on some nasty and efficient denial, then it has potential to be broken in advanced games. But so long as they don't have something as direct as "Forget It" (the universal denial card in beta), things should be okay. But I admit, I am a bit nervous since I have no idea what their card pool looks like. If they are inundated with a lot of expensive cards, then it wont be too bad. If they have a lot of cheap stuff and good denial, then Old Reliable may be tough to beat.

But I wont really know until I face it on the table (I may have to get my Cap friend to give it a go actually). But my first thought is that it doesn't look too bad (assuming certain things about Cap's cards).

Alright folks it's been a while! So how are everyone's lists working out? What are the thoughts on using Mitch Hunter as a warlord? I plan using Sea Lions as troops by is it with it too have then in 5 man squads or 10? I have every other option other than Free Marines. I want to add banshees and purple sharks. Depends if I want to use heavy infantry. Help a fellow trooper out!

I have been doing well with Big Bob and the Free Marines, supported by Banshees and Sharks.

I haven't had the opportunity yet to actually field a game, but I plan on only fielding 5 man squads for now. I think they provide better options and a broader range of uses than putting in one 10/12 squad. Two squads mean more dynamic movements, flanking etc. Especially with Sea Lions and their infiltrate, stalk and special skill I think group of 5s is the best so far. Still not tested this but rather have two hard to hit flankers than one. :)

OH and always fun to try and have more squads than your opponent, means you get to do your last moves by yourself without interruption. :D

Very good points!

The reason why I was thinking 10man Sea Lion Squads was due to the fact I have 20! I have always loved Sea Lions over the Free Marines and I love having them as troops! I also have enough infantry packs to make all of them into airborne infantry with the special character AND banshees and sharks. Two very themed lists with one being infiltrating recon, the other being all out in your face airborne!

Sea Lion Recon Force

Warlord: Mitch + Pride

Troops:

Sea Lions (5)

Sea Lions (5)

Heavy Infantry (5)

Light Vehicles:

Purple Sharks (2)

If had 20 of them and would probably field something like this if I wanted a Sea Lion force for 750p :D

Warlord: Mitch Hunter + (Screaming Eagles for 40p, everyone get Rapid Deployment)

Troops:

Light Infantry (5, using Fragmenting Ammo. Shotgunts for everyone!)

Sea Lions (5)

Sea Lions (5)

Support:

Sea Lions (5)

Sea Lions (5)

Light Vehicles:

Purple Shark (2)

5 points left to buy upgrades for if possible.

Rapid deployment goes for Light Infantry and Mitch, so only things actually fielded at startup would be Purple Sharks in a far of location. Then once ordinary deployment is done Sea Lions would either deploy using infiltrate or (if the enemy also go infiltrate they could hold back and deploy using rapid deployment instead) field to flank from different angles as much as possible. Light Infantry and Mitch would then hold of arriving for a turn or two at least, aiming to arrive behind the enemy line to quickly decimate the enemy.

The main thing to remember is that Mitch sadly do not get infiltrate, so he can not deploy with the Sea Lions that way. Which is the reason why Rapid Deployment instead is used for him. :)

Pax, not only does that sound badass, it appears to be very thematic! Think about it. The Purple Sharks area acting as scouting vehicles to draw attention while the recon force can act as ambushers. Mitch has trained up a squad of light infantry in a few of the sea lions tactics, allowing them to rapidly deploy. He's of course joining them to personally help direct the troop movement and make sure they don't screw up. He trusts his Sea Lions to get in the right position.

I agree, I'm very tempted to test this out on a possibly very unfortunate Bauhaus player this year. I just need 10 more Sea Lions! :D I figure I could mix in 10 Heavy Infantry instead to make his life miserly and drop the Light Infantry, para-dropping power armours lead by Mitch Hunter... O_o

I'm going to run that list so hard now! That's the ballsiest thing I've heard yet and it must be done!

I think the final iteration of this list will include Free Marines in the 2 Support slots. I may add some bodies to the 2 Sea Lion squads for added durability.
