One can only suspect that Prodos wants to give players opportunity to test a vehicle just by buying a starter set.

They've said it's getting released as a separate vehicle as well.

I picked up a Cybertronic Starter at the UK Games Expo in Birmingham at the weekend so I have this guy in hand and he really is a great mini but his HMG surely can't be ST 24? That seems insanely OP compared to the other weapons in the game. Disappointed that the unit card doesn't have the points cost either.

Probably because they want to align all of them- ten troops, two minor leaders, one light vehicle (except DL). Brotherhood, DL and Cyber are all altered to follow this fashion now (along with Imperial who are that way from the start), I wouldn't be surprised if we saw more of it- no named characters in starter sets, instead they will all follow the same pattern.
It will be interesting to see what they put in Bauhaus, Capitol and Mishima as the lower-level generic leaders.

What I mean is that every faction starter has a bigger model that can also be bought separately (eg. Razide, Meka, Vulcan), except Cybertronic :( I'm not interested in getting the starter set so I hope Atilla will eventually be sold separately as well.

Yes the reason was to make the starters more attractive for a second and third purchase. The build that the starter had for Kickstarter was nice but this build is definitely more attractive/useful for a second purchase.

Used this dude last night in a game. He was pretty cool, though not a lot of use out of his rail as he wasn't able to line up any shots for that. Rof 3 able to increase to 6 was pretty dang handy, but at the cost of avv 5 hits to his core. The funny thing is his auto repair still works on those hits, so 1-10 and ignore/repair those. His auto repair makes him difficult to take down.
If I remember right his cards extend the range of attilla MK 3's resonance from 8" to 18". I forget what the rest did. This guy is a really solid vehicle choice.
