We like to think so!

I so wish I could share all of our ideas and development, but at the moment, we have to keep quiet. It's exciting times here at Prodos Towers though, developing Imperial and AVP!

All of the various Beret special forces units and of course trenchers with big honking multi-barrel machine guns. I doubt they would forget the Hurricane walkers. Never liked the Clans guys so could care less if they include them or not, they never fit the image of Imperial to me.

Hence why I believe that highland clan warriors should be moved to somewhere between the wolfbanes and the beret cops, to bridge the gap so to say. Or that something else should be added to bridge that gap cause I can agree Imperial seem somewhat fractured in art style at the moment.

Why do people only mention the Golden Lions and Blood Berets? There were quite a few different Beret SF guys with very different abilities. Hunters were specialists on Venus I think, Stirlings who were a defensive force, Shamrocks(dont remember their speciality), there was a unit that had black armor and functioned as space craft borne marines who specialized in boarding actions and had SMGs(I think). Golden Lions were one of the more boring beret units and I never used them.

All clan units have a lot of potential but in the first edition it was wasted.

But Prodos can do it right!

From the fluff these units are all awesome.
But first I want to see Assault Trenchers, of course standard Trenchers, Storm Trenchers and Hurricane Walker.
I dream of a great Trencher Army.

We've mentioned a great lists of beret corps, but golden lions and blood berets are the only ones who ever had more than a page background.

Unless dual boxing is possible I'd rather see one unit of berets (blood berets) one unit of trenchers (trenchers) and one unit of clansmen (wolfbanes).

Trenchers would be troops with wolfbanes and blood berets becomming troops with gallagher and mcbride respectively. Though blood berets could possibly start as troops (though it feels wrong since they're the most famous special force in imperial, they were the ones picked by Durand from imperial for the crusade)

I think Imperial and Bauhaus should probably have a lot of list-building parallels when it comes to special forces.

Blood Berets and Golden Lions should definitely start as Support with the potential to unlock to Troops based on characters.

And now that we have a greater look at how armies are laid out I'd definitely like to see Regulars as basic troops and then see Trenchers worked in either as a unit upgrade (ala what the Hatamoto have) or as an upgrade from a character (since in 1st, the Trenchers were a specific regiment of Regulars; so having a character upgrade them like Valerie Duval does with Etoiles would be another option).

The first way allows them to act as a minor upgrade that can be universally applied (perhaps even work in an additional upgrade for Assault Trenchers in a similar way to Cap's airborne infantry). The second way brings back the precise feel they had in 1st Edition of being a specific unit and could possibly allow for some interesting interactions with their designated leader.

I also admit that I am really interested in seeing the Hurricane re-imagined. It is one of those units that always looks super-characterful in the art but the model (even though it was actually fairly close) just kind of highlighted how silly it was. I think a re-design that loses the stubby, vestigial wings would help considerably. Giving it proper weapon mounts would allow it to look more like an homage to a WWII fighter rather than a WWII fighter that someone stuck legs and silly little wings on.

For that matter, for all the flak it gets I'd love to see a redesign of the Ram's Air Cav. It is a neat concept (one-man, cut-down close support gunship) but would definitely need a re-implemenation since even a good re-working of the original concept would end up with the same general issues. My first suggestion would be to give it a proper seat and figure out some way for it to land that wont shatter the pilot's ankles. Part of me things that attaching the rocket engines to swivel mounts to allow it to act more like a gunship would be a good start. Then make the pilot-seat/cockpit in to something akin to a bubble turret on a WWII era super-bomber. Keeps with the faction's Weird WWII aesthetics while also making some kind of general sense as a vehicle (well at the very least, questions like "how does it land" will be asked less if it can hover and doesn't rely on human legs for landing gear).

It will also be nice to see the Highlander Clans, Wolfbanes, et al appear in an edition that doesn't punish assault-heavy armies. The lessened volume of reaction fire and variety of ways to get close to the enemy without opening yourself up too much really helps close combat shine this time around.

With you on some things. I could care less on Golden Lions, I want to see Hunters and Blood Berets as far as the SF guys go. Rams air Cav was one of my favorite units, never went to battle without at least two. I still have my old Hurricane Walker, I used it for my old Ork army and had 'welded' on gun mounts on the wings for orks to stand on. I think I can strip it and get it back into action along with two old Eradicator Death droids.

Trenchers still need to be a basic troop type. They are the grunts in the field and were the standard guys in 1st edition. Even in 2nd edition they were still the normal Imperial troops. The Regulars were the equivalent of conscripts that no one used and need to stay in the same role.
