Mishima had serious balance problem during 1st edition era, although it was very fun to play.
It was a struggle against other corpo shooty army, especially bauhaus/imperial/capitol who could put a lot of cheap good shooter with decent guns (and any gun is good against your 22 armour - 24pts model...)
In fact, combat warhead and crimson devil were almost standard to stand a chance. Meka was not brillant (and its model ugly), but deathbringer and Demon hunter were great heroes.

It's hard to make a balanced cc oriented army in a futuristic game with actions, so I'm pretty curious how Prodos will do them. I was great fond on some models (I have a very little Mishima Armies, Space samourai is just too stylish and I love japan a lot): ashigarus were really nice on model terms, as warhead and old samurai models. Bushido samurai just rubish & ugly.

Big fan of Mishima here...but I agree I hope they won't be done as "Samurai in space". And if you want to make them close combat oriented, you really need to think about game balance.
Things I hope that will be released:
*Ronin
*Hatamoto
*Crimson Devils
*Combat & Suicide Warheads
*Shadow Walkers & Deathbringers
*Tiger Dragons
*Mekas
*Dragonbike

Make the Ronin a solid core choice with the Hatamoto and Crimson Devils the ranged elite troopers and Tiger Dragons and Shadow Walkers the elite close combat troops. Should give an interesting force with options for all players.

Yeah this is an important point for Warzone. It must be possible to play CC orientated armies in a world of guns.
It is not only a question of the units but a question of the rules, too. It is always tough to get into CC but then the CC units should be overwhelming.

Between the generally higher CC values, ability to shift battlefield conditions with cards, the different options once engaged and a few other factors, I think CC is actually shaping up well in this edition. I'm glad they've gone for an asynchronous combat system (outside of counter-charge) which alone helps put it on par with shooting by not immediately allowing the enemy to fight back.

But a lot of it will depend on what the unique cards in Mishima's repertoire is and what their stats look like. If they are relatively fast and have some good tricks then CC will be a workable option with them, so long as they aren't utterly anemic in a firefight.

But then, Mutant Chronicles Mishima had access to a lot of high-tech toys I would love to see on the field. They should be spoiled for mechs and battlesuits when the time comes.

I agree I think the cards will have an impact on being able to use a CC force more effectively.
It will be interesting to see how the arts have an impact on the game as well!

I hope they look good in the new version I always had a few mixed feelings about the older figures, but please no jumping/acrobats as figures good action poses but not some of the Infinity once I've seen.

Hopefully they'll drop the Bushido Samuari (silly idea - and if you want to go that way, originally Samuria were bow specialists, so guns make sense). When laying UWZ, never used them, always based the forces around Ronin.

Mark did say that all corps and the Dark Legion were getting some sort of vehicle on the facebook group, so anything is possible.
