Very cheap troop choice.
The Mortar shuold be useful against base troops with low armour value...
Will you use them?

They are cheap in mass. Small units are not worth it as You need a ronin to get a RC. Few pts You save are not worth a loss of all advantages ronin have
Mortars - not cheap. Instead of a single one I recommend blast of a hurricane. 3 can be useful but a cost of 103 for rof 3 is far from what I can accept. 100 pts is a cost of 5 crimsons with a hmg.
I think I will try to use them as a really big, clumsy unit of 16. They will be fragile to any template so not a good choice against several armies but they might be nice for pure mass.
To sum up. Worst new unit. Blitzers are WOW!, Mahinators very interesting. Ashigaru - require specialist built. With maby Hiroko lord, ronin commander with path of True Sight etc.
