Aren't marines under-costed using the advance points?

I think using that system the marines come out at 50+20 for medic... aliens and predators are around 185/195

Yet in all the games I've played using the starting forces the games have been pretty even. Using the advance rules I could have double the number of marines?

This doesn't seem right

I thinks so, It is a real nightmare to hold 16 marines when playing 200 points but we will see how it is after the Q&A coming.


Just one thing, on the basic game you get 50 points of marines, I don't know where do you get the 20 points, medic is free.

Medic is a skill upgrade for an officer. The only thing Marines get for free in squad is the gun, FT and tracker. Doesn't mention any other free skills.


Actually they only reference Heal(4) as a HQ skill, there is no mention of medic at all other that the description of medic saying it gives heal(4).

So again, by the advanced rules as written... giving the medic skill to the FT guy is actually illegal as he's not a HQ/officer character type. It seems the intent is to assume that whoever has the FT also has medic (going from the 2 entries in the marine list of both FT guys having medic also), but there is nothing that states this in the advanced rules.

The flamethrower is the one who is the medic and the flamethrower is free. ;)

So just 50 points so far. You can check the list samples from prodos in the rulebook. ;)
