Enceladus orbits around Saturn, his frozen oceans give the satellite an albedo of near 1. This encouraged Capitol’s engineers to develop a large solar accumulator at research station “Albacore”, which both provides energy to the region’s spaceport, and melts the subterranean iced sea, giving to capitol’s space ships a safe water supply depot.
Bauhaus corporation decided to deliver a fatal blow to capitol’s trade routes around Saturn, so “Albacore” is a priority target: a ship could travel in space forever, but the crew can’t stay more than 3 days without drinking!
Kampfgruppe Reiner has been sent to capture the whole structure.
Hauptmann Reiner is approaching in the snow, proceeding alone towards the far orange stripes painted on the walls of Albacore, while a small bombardment tries to soften up the Capitol’s 103rd “Ghouls” regiment, who awaits for the coming attack..

Mission: Search & Destroy

Special Rules: due to low gravity, light terrain counts as open, and heavy counts as light. Climbing is considered light terrain for infantry.

TURN 1
Bauhaus Commander is the only unit deployed, in the north side near the infirmary, while Capitol deploys the Purple Sharks behind the pumping station and Hvy Inf behind the wall near of container. Reiner sets up “defensive mode”, Hvy Inf place 2 sentries to counter the sure-to-come Etoiles Mortants’assault. 2 Vorreiters come rumbling in dead ahead of Purple sharks, with machine guns vomiting fire. The 2 squads of vehicles start a lead-based duel on the narrow corridor on the right, trading some damages.

TURN 2
1st Mortants team rapid deploys for an assault on the Hvy Inf, but a roll of 17 sends them a bit too far away, causing their combat to be a little less effective. They killed 3 enemies but are very ill positioned. One of them immediately dies for a chainripper slash. Time for the Martian Banshee Commander to come in and kill the enemy Warlord… 20!!! The poor Capitol Warlord goes in heaven without tearing or slashing anything!! The vehicle war rages on, losing a Vorreiter and a Shark, the latter killed by the joining Commander Reiner.

TURN 3
The Airborne Cav paradrops near the Etoiles, Hail Mary punishing one of the girls, M50s killing the others. Then the 2nd team of Etoiles comes to claim vengeance for their sisters of battle. The Cav are so bad placed (almost a napoleonic fire line) that the Gehenna Puker cleanse ALL OF THEM!! This enables the rest of the girls to kill the remaining Hvy Inf (took a lot of dice, however.. Armor 14 is IMPERVIOUS for St 9 girls!!). The Vorreiter are gone, it’s up to Commander Reiner to keep up Bauhaus’ left flank (right flank of pic), and he does that by downing another shark, that explodes without harming his fellow.

TURN 4
The lone shark tries to disengage from the right flank battle, and sprays the Etoiles with bullets, claiming 2 kills.. too late for using the smoke flare. Then hauptmann Reiner says “enough!” and destroys the last jetbike, thirsting the Capitol’s spaceships for a long time…

Considerations:
A Juggernaut Warlord with 5 Wounds is just incredibly tough. Etoiles Mortants are very dangerous with their Rapid Deployment, but strength 9 is very, very poor.. Think twice before calculating “automatic squad kill”. ;) Heavy Infantry struck me… Very durable, nice weapons and high survivability in CC. A must-have! Sharks are a bucket of bullets, a real hail of fire.
PS= who remembers what's the container's number "82517"? :mrgreen:

Very cool Battle Report. 82517 is from the X-Files. I believe it was on the train container that was supposed to be carrying the alien in it.

Nice battle report!
I loved the fluff's desperate conflict and the awesome Enceladus setting.
As always you build an interesting background (both scenery and story wise).

A couple of notes:

1) Etoiles have Strength 11 in close combat (Base St 9 + Punisher Short Sword St+2). If you deploy them 5 inches away from the target they also get an engage bonus (St+2 to their first attack. So they are rather good in CC. Heavy Infantry would still survive but you might squeeze an extra wound or two out of them.
2)The Custom Juggernaut warlord can have max 4 wounds (3W as a warlord +1 from customization). Also he can only become CC or Tech so he can't have RS+2 (but he can have RoA+1). Defensive mode btw is a solid tactic on a full RD army.
