The new machinator are very beautiful!

I do not like the model LMG weapon too banal, the old weapon is more beautiful!

Well it is a reboot, so maybe the background for the unit is changing. I think the new weapons look better, it may just be me that thinks so, but I like the changes.

The important bit is that they still seem to be CQB troops. Those guns look like upsized SMGs in their hands. So hopefully they are packing some high-ROF carbines and an HMG for close support. Cybertronic already had a wealth of close-combat specialists like Mirror Men and Reavers. Machinators would be better if they did something a bit different. A heavily armed CQB unit sounds like a perfect place to put your uncaring robotic shock troopers to me.

Edit - Besides, an edition updating the battlefield role of autonomous robotic troops is nothing new. Just look at the warheads from Mishima. They went from being flying combat cigars to being humanoid combat robots. In comparison the Machinator update is downright tame!

They do look interesting very much like shock troopers bounding forward uncaring.

Being multi-part is a the big bonus as you can pose them as you prefer.

I like these, except for the heads. I personally don't care about them not having swords, something about robots with swords seems silly to me. If a robot wants to do cc damage there would be endless more devestating ways it could do it then carrying a sword.

I agree with using the original weapons; they were part of the Cybertronic feel. I don't see why they have to look like any other [L|H]MG now. The models themselves are otherwise looking promising though.

I think it's an interesting concept to have them armed with ranged weapons but allow us to field swords also?

It looks like they get Assault Rifles and a HMG specialist.
The guy in the middle looks like an air borne unit...

I don't mind the changes and maybe the weapon choices are optional.

I am not at all that impressed with the weapon styling thus far either. There was obviously a new direction shown when the Chasseurs, Immortal and Everassur appeared (that's fine) but the designs thereafter ie the Cuirassiers and now Machinators are imo very lacklustre and differing in this department. The Cuirassiers w/ undersized contemporary styled assault rifles? (and the cheesy grin head) are particularly disappointing. As to why the original designs and Cybertronic manufacturing ethos needs to be conned out, who knows. Again imo only they were iconic and suitably techy even for the new sculpts.

Saying that if you indeed want the designs to go in a new direction then please a little consistency would be nice.

I'd say the biggest problem with the new Cybertronic design is consistency, right now it doesn't seem like they really know which way they want to take it. I like the industrial approach, but would also like to see more of a "smart" cyberpunk direction and less cyborg gorillas.

But concerning the Machinators I'd say they got great potential but the head, shoulders and poses do need some work. I'd like the faces to look more sinister and less Vince Diamond (I do like V.D. though), the shoulders might benefit from being smaller or more rounded. As for the poses, they would look much more brutal if they were just calmly walking down the battlefield, the current poses would suit the Chasseurs more whom got more to loose from being killed, so to speak, and whom probably got more wits. But apart from that I really like them

And about those guns, I really would like to see more of the old design, otherwise all guns will just end up looking all the same in the end, well, kind of. I would like to see a redesign of pretty much every gun we've seen this far thb.

But I do see some great potential in the direction Prodos is taking with their cybertronic design, they just have to keep it together more I believe and shouldn't be afraid to look at the old stuff once and awhile...

The Machinators and the Scorpions at their time were the better of Cybertronic sculps. Good figures and nice to use but in R.P.G. and war game against an army with medium/long range weapons closing to close quarters could lose your squads. Dark Legion Armies really could exploit this and a good "DL" player using terrain could really punish the Cybertronic army.I think the new figures are great the weapons to my mind give a short to long range attack and with speed, plus the "Terminator" style of armour. I think they are a winner.
