Do you prefer less, bigger squad or more smaller squad?

Advantage of bigger squad:
1 with single card or power you buff more model.
2 with a single activation you move more model.
3 difficult to break.

More Little squad:
1 more activation means more possibility to outmanouvre the enemy.
2 more different squad and specialization
3 if troops, more resource.

What do you say?

I say more activations, for various reasons based on yours.

Having more activations is an advantage in every game based on the "i move a unit, you move a unit" system. It allows you to see what your opponent does, to wait before playong your master unit etc etc.

It also allows you to attack more easily on various sides, and to keep pressure on the ennemy forces.

I would also say that you can have more minis on Sentry mode with little units than big, since even very small units can have 2 Sentires.

The Ld level of every models in the game is pretty high. As long as the squad commander of a squad lives, even small units are pretty hard to break, except for a few such as Heretics, which i doubt are much played nowadays.

This is to me the only good point in big squads. But irrelevant compared to all the good ones for small squads.

All of this depends on your army and deck of course, but all in all i think it's generally better to spread the points of your army in many little forces.

But bigger Squad give to you a greater push in just a single activation, while smaller Squad can't achieve the same level of punishment in just one activation...

depends on what your preferred tactics are and the faction. Thought I think close combat squads are best maxed out given the hammering they are going to take closing unless you are very careful and there is lots of cover to allow dashes from cover to cover to work flawlessly

I prefer more activations, but I've seen big squads used effectively too.

The trick is to find balance between the two, or to adjust the army list to your individual playstyle.

Depends on what you field. More activations are great, but not if the squads can get killed with ease. So if I have less (but bigger) squads, I will concentrate my firepower on small squads that have not activated yet. Chances are I can really dent them or even wipe them out. And of course, I focus on Squad Commanders as much as I can. In small squads they have a hard time hiding.

So I prefer large-ish Chasseur and Armoured Chasseur squads and small support squads to complement them. At least 2 models if I can...1 model squads eat a slot each and die easily.

Hi

I think that depending of type of squad. I prefer a big troop unit, and small specialized squad. Must be a balance between the two options.

Bye
