Just pondering the use of painting style using a Playbook page from the old Rackaham style of painters metallics. They used greys and blues to signify silver and a buildup of browns, tans and yellows to produce gold without the use of an actual metallic paint.
I before putting down the brush 7 years ago,was and still sort of am a recovering GW painter(flamethrowers MUST be brilliant red with omg i'm yellow feed cannisters!!!)After a stint into Confrontation for a few years I began painting with the non metallic style.Last thing I painted was a Flames of War German Afrika Korp army and kept everything strictly historical and real world. This is where Im at today.
I think some things may look very cool in WZR painted this way,but have opted for the real world approach,at least with my Bauhaus.Real world with a handful of grit tossed in seems to be working for me thus far.
Thoughts anyone???

I thoroughly enjoyed the painting style from Rackham on their models. Though it made the models appear more fantastical than real, I don't see why it couldn't be pulled off well in the WZ setting.

On the technique:
What you are talking about is called NMM (=non-metallic metallic) and is some VERY hard work to do. Dont expect your first 12 models to come out great unless you are an adept painter and a quick learner. Also, you really need to thin down your colours VERY much because you should almost never see where the new colour begins.

The next level on this is even harder: SE-NMM (Sky-Earth non-metallic metallic) where you paint the surroundings´ reflection on the miniature.

examples with good instructions on how to get started here:
http://www.jenova.dk/NMM.htm

And then there´s the masterclass:

Having said this I do not know if Warzone miniatures are made to do this. Most weapons I´ve seen so far dont have smooth surfaces but a lot of wires/other detail. It should be possible nonetheless but much harder to do.

I'm going for NMM for my models, I think it fits Cybertronic very well.

My colors will be (Vallejo Model Color):

(this is Thierry Husser/Arkaal's recipe for NMM)

It works well, but doesn't have enough contrast. So I use P3 Coal Black and sometimes pure black for the deepest shade. Here's some examples:

Seeing the Valkyrie...do the Prodos Valkyries really exist? Any picture proof? ;)

I like the results of this tutorial.

I got mine, but have no glue to assemble them.

I have mine, assembled and ready for painting, but I got the MK1 spears, so they're a bit rare and the spears are super delicate.

They're just about the same, can see if I can snap a few pics this coming weeks, but no guarantees :)

Thanks, Maniac. They are in my pending order anyways. Just thought Prodos improved them too because they were late in production and never on a pic shown. Was hoping for additional heads without helmets. :)
